Arctic Fox/ Narwhal Whale /Penguin / Snowy Owl: Drawing and Painting Flex Class

A four-week flex class we will be Drawing and painting Winter Arctic animal friends every week with acrylic or watercolor paint, included in this class we will have scavenger hunt games, ongoing interaction with teacher and learners.

What's included

Homework
Weekly tasks will be assigned. Learners will choose one task per week and communicate their learnings to me via the classroom page. I will engage with students through messaging and/or video responses.

Welcome Artists! 
I'm excited that you joined this 4 week flex class! We do not meet live, I will be here to guide you through messaging in the classroom and email via Outschool.
 Be as creative as like! Share your work! Comment on classmates work as well in a positive manner! I'm so excited to see your work and guide you on your journey painting your Arctic friends!


Please note: This class is a flex class, meaning there are no live meetings. It will run for 4 weeks according to the dates in the session that you have selected.

As a "Flex" course offering, this class does not include live class meetings in Zoom but teacher-to-learner and learner-to-learner interaction are expected from course participants in the online classroom. These interactions will take place using the Outschool message delivery system so learners and the teacher can interact on a one-on-one basis for questions and feedback. Group discussions will be visible to all learners in the course and students are expected to post, share, and comment on the of their classmates art work and scavenger hunt findings!

This class includes but are not limited to:
creating dimension
facts about painting 
mixing colors
blending colors
shadowing with paint
cleaning your brush while painting

 You will be sent a video lesson each week and watch it at your convenience. There will be fun assignments to complete each week so that your artist will be engaged throughout the entire course about the forest animal they are painting!

Week 1: 
Penguin Painting
Complete: Share and discuss with your teacher and classmates

1) Share your sketch of your penguin.
What did you find easy about sketching your penguin? What shapes did you notice that you used to create your sketch?
2) Share your painting when you you have painted in your eyes. What part did you notice your painting becoming more 3d? 
3) Share your completed painting. What challenges did you have when adding the shadows in your painting?
4) Scavenger hunt time! Find three things in your home or around you that are the same colors that you have used in your painting, Let’s have some fun! Record yourself holding the three things with your painting or take a picture and send it in the classroom! Comment on your classmates scavenger hunt finds!

Week 2: Arctic Fox Painting
Complete: Share and discuss with your teacher and classmates

1) Share your sketch of your fox.

Week 3: Narwhal Painting
Complete: Share and discuss with your teacher and classmates

1) Share your sketch of your Narwhal Whale

Week 4: Snowy Owl Painting
Complete: Share and discuss with your teacher and classmates

You’re a teacher your classmates and yourself will be commenting in a positive manner on your work as well as your classmates work.

Learning Goals
In this 4 week flex class learners at all age levels can benefit from painting which enhances creativity, increases fine motor skills and teaches children color recognition ahues.

Parental Guidance
Learners will require parental guidance to create and/or post weekly tasks.
Supply List
Covering on table. Painting can be messy
Canvas, canvas board or paper no larger then 11x16
(any recycled material such as card board, wood)
Pencil
big, medium and small paint brush 
acrylic or watercolor paints ( all shades of colors are great)
Brush sizes Large, medium, small
Cup of water to wash brushes as we paint.
Paint cloth, rag or paper towels to dry paint brushes
A blow dryer in case you use to much paint it dries painting quickly

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
