This ongoing acrylic painting class meets once a week, offering students aged 10 and up a fantastic opportunity to develop their painting skills. In this class, you will learn essential techniques such as brush control, color mixing, and composition through fun, project-based lessons designed to inspire your creativity. With over 10 years of experience in teaching art in K-12 public schools, I am a Star Educator on Outschool, dedicated to nurturing each child's unique artistic voice. My patient and encouraging teaching style helps boost confidence in students of all skill levels. The small, interactive group setting fosters connection and collaboration, making art not just a skill but a shared experience! What to Expect: -Tailored Learning: I focus on meeting students where they are, ensuring that art is accessible and enjoyable for everyone. My small class sizes allow me to provide personalized instruction, so everyone leaves class feeling confident and proud of their work. -Directed Approach: Each session will focus on exciting subjects like animals, landscapes, and nature. We will learn to identify basic shapes, practice shading for depth, and explore blending and color mixing techniques. -Creative Choices: Students will have the chance to make individual decisions about their artwork. Creativity is celebrated, and I encourage interaction and fun during the creative process! Engagement and Feedback: At the end of each class, there will be an optional sharing time where students can discuss their work and receive positive feedback. This helps students understand their own creations better, relate to their peers, and find inspiration. Class Details: I will use two cameras: one for my work area, allowing you to follow along with detailed instructions, and another for your creative choices! Flexible Enrollment: Choose how many classes to attend! There’s no long-term commitment required—stay enrolled for 10 months, join for a single session, or pop in based on your schedule. If a listed time doesn’t work, please reach out; I am happy to accommodate students' schedules whenever possible! Important Information: ⚠️ Camera Requirement: Students must have their camera on for visual confirmation before class begins. After confirmation, you can decide how to use your camera. ⚠️ Separate Enrollment: Each sibling or co-learner must enroll separately. I look forward to creating art with you! Parental Guidance
This class is a safe, fun, and educational place for the student who appreciates live instruction with the support of free expression. I don't require students "follow along" with me, but some appreciate the structure. Some of my classes are very talkative while others are not, it just depends on the energy of the group. Your child can participate as much or as little as they choose and are always encouraged to ask questions if needed. I am here to provide support, and encouragement to all learners so they can create something they are proud of.

About Me - Tami (Mrs. Oakes or Ms. Tami)
I am an artist and a passionate teacher with over ten years of experience in sharing the joy of art with kids aged 5 to 18. My journey in painting started long ago, and it has allowed me to bring live demonstrations to my students, helping them enhance their skills and explore their creativity.
In addition to my experience as an artist, I have spent many years in a traditional classroom setting, which prepared me to make the exciting transition to the virtual art studio on Outschool in 2020. I’m thrilled to be able to connect with young artists online and support them in their artistic journeys. Let's create something amazing together!
