Beginner - Intermediate Level
During this fun and creative art club, students will learn to paint landscapes, seascapes, animals, and objects from both nature and our imagination. In the spring, we will focus on painting floral designs, trees, and spring scenes. In the summer, we will capture the beach, seashells, boats, and palm trees. In the fall, we will paint seasonal themes such as pumpkins, apples, and fall animals. In the winter, we will create snowscapes, winter scenes, pine trees, snowmen, and cozy indoor settings. Students will explore basic techniques using acrylic paint, including wet brush, dry brush, thin paint, impasto (thick paint), palette knife, color mixing, and creating gradients (ombre effect). We will also learn fundamental color theory as we mix and apply paints. Throughout this class, students will have ample time to interact with each other and with me in this club-style environment. I will provide lots of encouraging and enthusiastic feedback. My teaching style is relaxed, and I aim to help students develop their own artistic styles. This class is open to both beginners and advanced students who may need encouragement. I encourage creativity at every stage. I will be painting alongside students using an overhead camera and demonstrating techniques as we create together. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Art and Design from The College of New Jersey
Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.
I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.
My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
