Progress Report
Once a month, usually every 4 to 5 classes, I will write a progress report on how your child is doing in class. This will include what your child is writing about, what writing techniques they are good at and what techniques we are currently working on.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 10
Beginner - Advanced Level
*As a professional English teacher, I am highly skilled and knowledgeable in the field of creative and descriptive writing. Please visit the 'teacher's expertise' section for more information*

*Learners are required to use 'Google Docs' to write their book/short story. This make it easier for me to track the feedback part of the class as well as their progress.*

Welcome to the Anime Creative Writing class!

In this on-going class, learners will write a creative piece of writing specifically related to anime. This will often cover anime characters, story lines, plots, sub-plots, world building and more! This could also change from genre to genre too! Therefore, learners could write about shounen, shoujo, isekai, school life, slice of life, romance/comedy and more. It should be noted that learners are expected to have some knowledge relating to anime - and by knowledge, I don't mean 'academic knowledge' but rather they have watched a few anime before and have a good idea what it's all about (themes, plot lines, powers etc).

In regard to the class itself, it will be structured and centered around the learners creating their own anime. Of course, as the teacher, I will be providing guidance as to the planning aspect of the anime that they will write about. Here's what to expect:

- Firstly, your child will be spending time planning what characters, plot, setting and genre they want their book/short story to be about. The plan itself is supposed to be a ‘bare bones’ type of plan where the learner is only planning the ‘essentials’ of what is needed to start off their book/short story. The logic of this is that stories tend to chop and change frequently once you begin to write, to the point where they can deviate entirely from the plan. Therefore, a bare bones plan saves a lot of time for the learner in the future. It also prevents the learner from 'overthinking' their plan too which can take away from writing time.

- Secondly, the learner will proceed to write ‘Chapter One’ which is capped at between 300-400 words per chapter. The purpose of this is to allow time in the class to provide feedback on the chapter before the learner writes ‘Chapter Two’. Through this consistent feedback method, learners, over time, will begin to see improvements in their writing when they compare ‘Chapter One’ to ‘Chapter Five’, for example.

Please note that I will, firstly, be focusing on the learner’s writing technique before I begin providing feedback on their actual story itself. Once I am confident in the learner’s ability to write clearly and coherently, then I will start providing feedback relating to narrative, plot, character development and more.

Below is a class structure overview for the FIRST class:

- Introducing each other - 5 minutes

- Planning the anime story - 10 minutes - *It is recommended if your child already has a plan beforehand*

- Writing your 'Chapter One' - 20/25 minutes

- Feedback - 10/15 minutes

-------------------------------------------------

Below is a class structure overview for every class thereafter:

- Reviewing chapter and feedback from last class - 5/10 minutes

- Writing your 'Chapter Two/Three/Four etc - 25/30 minutes

- Feedback - 10/15 minutes

--------------------------------------------------

I look forward to teaching your child in class and please message me directly if you have any questions or concerns!
