Dive into the dynamic world of American Sign Language (ASL) through the engaging themes of sports, hobbies, and recreation! This interactive course is designed to build a strong foundation in ASL while exploring topics that spark excitement and connection. Participants will learn essential sign vocabulary, form simple sentences, and gain practical conversational skills—all while deepening their understanding of Deaf culture and ASL grammar. Each week, students will explore a new aspect of ASL communication: from asking for help and engaging in basic conversations to signing about favorite activities, school experiences, and relationships. Hands-on practice, visual aids, and cultural insights will guide learners toward confidence in signing about everyday topics. **Key Objectives**: - Sports & Hobbies - Getting Started - Getting to Know You - Family, Friends, and Favorites. - School Days - Improve conversational skills by signing about school life. - Identify and use classifiers (^, 1, 3) while discussing time-related topics. This class is perfect for learners eager to build their ASL skills while connecting with topics they love. Whether signing about sports, chatting about hobbies, or discussing everyday life, students will leave with the tools to express themselves confidently in ASL!

I have been teaching American Sign Language for over 15 years. I worked in the Deaf community for ten years. I teach a music and movement program in my local area and teach American Sign language at different Preschools and private kindergartens in my local area. My daughter and I use signs to communicate as she is hard of hearing and an Outschool teacher. I aim to make learning fun so that learners want to keep learning.
No sensitive information that is a high-risk topic is taught in this class!
