Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Intermediate Level
This class will be entirely learner led and have the ability to utilize conversational skills (while learning) to have conversations using entirely American Sign Language. While having prior knowledge of the language is HIGHLY recommended, it is not required. I will not be teaching many new signs like I do in my other American Sign Language classes.

Weekly Topics:
> Week of 12/4 - Animals
> Week of 12/11 - Sports
> Week of 12/18 - Famiy, People, Pronouns
> Week of 12/25 - Weather

During class, learners will be able to have full conversations in the format of American Sign Language and using the knowledge that they have. This is for learners who do not want to learn more or want to learn from peers with assistance from me as your instructor. There will be weekly themes, and I will spin a wheel at the beginning of class to start out the conversation. Some of the weekly themes might be: school, favorite food, places, activities, etc. However, learners will be able to add in input to class as this is a LEARNER LED class.

As well, there may be times that we use Kahoot! in class to see where learners may be in their learning journey, please be aware of this prior to enrolling.

There will be very minimal learning, and this is mainly brushing up on skills that learners may not have used in a while.

Learning Goals

Having fun and meaningful conversations while using ASL.

Parental Guidance
We will be using Kahoots and GimKit in this class as review. The occasional Google Slide, Google JamBoard or Google Form might be used as well. These will all be links given to the learner where I see none of their personal information.

Ms. Annmarie - As a parent of a hard of hearing individual who has been using the language for 20+ years teaching and developing programs, it is important that we show learners exactly how to do signs to be able to go out into the world and use them.
