Homework
1 hour per week. Students will be given practice sheets with answer keys each class. Homework will take 10 - 15 minutes 3x per week. I will check their understanding at the beginning of each of the following classes.Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 5
Intermediate Level
Advanced Math Made Easy Long Division. (This is typically one of the hardest things to learn in school.) We start by learning simple patterns/shortcuts that make it easy to remember the multiples of numbers. We learn to divide numbers one digit at a time starting with the easier numbers like 2 and 5 and progressing from there to 9 (which has an easy to learn pattern), 3 and 7 (which has a similar patterns or shortcuts, then the rest. Student will learn foundation skills that allow them to do traditional long division. Geometry (Area and Perimeter) Perimeter is an easy concept when you explain in like a fence around a field or a border around a blanket. If we use a blanket, then to understand area we count the squares on a blanket. Though a blanket is simple because it is a rectangle, other shapes can be compared to a rectangle. For example a triangle is always half of a rectangle and a parallelogram has the same area as a rectangle. Fractions Traditionally teachers use a pizza to explain fractions, which is very limiting. Using real life examples for fractions like players on a team, fruit in a box or trees in a field make it easier to understand fractions, make equal fractions and even do equations with fractions. Algebra Explaining that algebra is simply using letters instead of numbers will help students understand how to solve simple equations. Going one step at a time from easy to hard questions will give students a chance to learn shortcuts, patterns and strategies for solving problems with algebra. Each class will cover 2 concepts: Class 1: Division, Geometry Class 2: Fractions Class 3 Algebra Class 4-6 Review Each class we will review the skills and challenge their abilities with questions at their level.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to:
Solve for the area and perimeter of a rectangles and triangles
Do long division and learn multiple patterns for all numbers 2-9.
Make equal fractions, add and subtract fractions.
Learn strategies for algebra.
All skills will be at a basic fact level, such as using 6 x 7, 8 + 5, 13 - 9 or 56 / 7.

Learning Needs
This class is for anyone, regardless of their ability level or learning needs.
Pre-Requisites
This class is designed for the those students who are ready to work, even if they feel they are not good at math. Though it will be fun and engaging, it will take work and effort . All the skills can be learned.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
Math worksheets and posters (digital) will be provided for each concept.
