Welcome to my Animal Themed Fractions Camp! In this camp learners will review how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators. Each class we will practice this skill at the end of each class we will play a "Kahoot!" game. I'm Mrs. Boham, a certified math teacher, with 11 years of experience teaching, 10 of which were as a certified classroom teacher specializing in Math. I LOVE making learning fun, and I love to connect with my students to find things that make learning more fun for them. Class Outline: • At the beginning of class we will start with greetings, review class expectations and do a math warm up. • Next, students will participate in a fun and engaging lesson focusing on strategies for operations with fractions. • As a class, students will practice the strategies and modeling of the new strategies will be reinforced. • The second half of the class, students will play an interactive game of Kahoot! practicing their new skills, and competing against their classmates in this fun math game. **Previous knowledge: Students should have experience adding and subtracting fractions with *like* denominators ( 3/5 + 1/5) and ot is highly recommended that they have some of their multiplication facts memorized. Generally this is a great class for students entering the following grades in fall of 2022: 4th, 5th, or 6th grade, although that is simply a general guideline.
