Welcome to acting class! This class will mainly be for beginner and intermediate students. No experience needed :-) Students will be given a monologue or scene during class. They will have 5-10 minutes to read over it and then we will go through a read through. Children will learn the technique of “cold reading.” This is where you have very little time with the material and can still give a strong performance. In the entertainment industry, it is very common to have less than 24 hours of time...
Students will learn cold reading technique. We will learn how to work from moment to moment. Also, we will learn how to connect organically to scenes.
I’ve trained at Los Angeles’s Playhouse West where the original Sanford Meisner taught. I also graduated from UCB’s improv comedy studio. Under a diversity scholarship, I trained at the Groundlings as well which is known for their character work. I played a doctor on HBO’s Getting On and was an offended best friend on Amazon’s Girl’s Night. You can see my full list of credits here at www.imdb.me/adambanerjee.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will be given material to read that may be dramatic or comedic in nature. Some delicate themes may be explored. I always screen all of the material. Please feel free to reach out with any concern. I work to create a safe environment for all of my students :-)
