Welcome to fifth grade math! This series of 4 classes (Fall, Winter I, Winter II, & Spring,) can be used as your student's sole math course for their year or as a supplement to another math class or curriculum. Students should have successfully completed a fourth grade math course. We will work through the Singapore Math Curriculum which is aligned with the Common Core math standards. Students will be able to accurately multiply two fractions. Students will be able to effectively solve word problems involving the multiplication and division of fractions. Students will recognize a fraction to be a division problem. Students will be able to accurately divide two fractions. Students will be able to convert between different standard measurement units. Students will be able to solve word problems relating to volume. Students will learn personal responsibility by coming to class prepared each day. Students will learn to raise their hand and take turns speaking. Students will learn to participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners.
Our teachers for this class have experience in brick and mortar k-12 settings as well as online elementary education.

Students will be assessed informally on an ongoing basis. At the end of each chapter, a formal test will be given to monitor student progress. A formal letter grade can be provided upon request at the beginning of the course.Grades Offered
Textbooks will be provided. Students will need a spiral notebook dedicated to this class. Additionally, students will be required to print out tests at the end of a chapter to complete in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
