HELLO!!
Join us in this complete curriculum class for 4th grade students to be well on their way to learning all they need to know.  In this course you can expect phonics, science, and geography as well as social emotional learning, gross motor skills, fine motor skills,  mathematical concepts, problem solving, language and vocabulary, writing skills and listening skills.  In this class learners will join Wild and Unstructured Learning in an adventure to grow their minds with understanding and readiness for 5th grade. 
 In this 8 week flex course students can learn at their own pace.  This class is designed for children to complete their weekly work whenever is best for them.  Students will have interaction with teacher and students regularly in the classroom.  Students will have homework and will be encouraged to participate.  Interaction for this class will be high interaction.  Students will comment on other students work as well as post their work in the classroom for teacher and student comment.  Each week we will cover several 4th grade topics.  We will go through a lot of material so best for parents to help and be close by. This class is for students who have been to 4th grade and want a refresher or want to learn some 5th grade topics.  Here is a breakdown of our weeks!

Week 1-
-Grammar- Compound sentences
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list this week. 
-Math- Comparing Fractions
-Science-  Earths Four Systems
-Writing- Beginning writing Biography

Week 2-
-Grammar- Common and proper nouns
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math-  Measurement word problems
-Civics- Justice system and how it works in the United States. 
-Science-Landforms and Islands
-Reading-Comprehension and fluency

Week 3-
-Reading-Comics
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math-Factors/Prime and composite numbers
-Writing- Continue and present Biography
-Science- Conservation of matter
-Economics-Smart Decision Making

Week 4-
-Grammar-Run on and Fragment
-Reading- Poetry
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Multiplying Fractions
-Science- Chemical reaction and changes
-Civics-  Personal Responsibility. Do I have a responsibility to myself?


Week 5-
-Grammar-Writing quotations
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing- Persuasive essay
-Math- Angles and fractional parts of a circle
-Economics- Financial Well being
-Science- What is matter made of?

Week 6-
-Grammar-Subject-verb agreement
-Reading- Fiction
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Division
-Science- Identifying Substances
-Geography- Tigers, Pandas, Cobras!  Where are they from?  Lets find their place on the map!  


Week 7-
-Writing-Continue and present persuasive essay
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Economics- Budgeting
-Geography- Kangaroos, Koalas, Wombats!  Where are they from?  Lets find their place on the map!
-Math-Multiplication and division fluency
-Science- Weather and Climate

Week 8-
-Reading-Narrative
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing- What do you want to do when you are grown up?  
-Geography- Golden lion tamarin, Toco toucan, Hyacinth macaw!  Where are they from?  Let's find their place on the map!
-Science- Weathering and Erosion 
-Math- Fractions as decimals

Other Details

Parental Guidance
This class includes movement/science and craft. We will use scissors at times. We will do science experiments, and we will be moving around. Please make sure your child has a clear safe space to move around as well as comfortable shoes and clothes and water close by. We ask parent's to be with their children during science experiments and while crafting.
