Children will sing, dance, and play games to learn everything they need to know for kindergarten! This school-year class has a different theme each week, so your child can subscribe any week! โฐClass time will range between 25-35 minutes depending on the class size and difficulty of the material being taught that day. โฐ If there are only 1 or 2 students in attendance, the class may only last 20 minutes. COURSE OVERVIEW: โ๏ธEach week there will be a science theme that will be touched on each day of class in addition to our reading and math subjects. โ๏ธ Mondays & Tuesdays: READING DAY! (Monday - teach; Tuesday - review) We will learn and review one letter that corresponds with our theme of the week. (Each reading day we will sing the ABCโs, so your child will be exposed to every letter each week.) We will also learn primary reading skills such as rhyming, blending CVC words, and sight words, etc. On reading days, I may also read a short story or poem that also corresponds with our weekly theme. โ๏ธWednesdays & Thursdays: MATH DAY! (Wednesday - teach; Thursday - review) We will learn and review one number (0-30), one shape, and a new color each week. We will also learn basic math skills such as counting, comparisons, directions, patterns, 2D vs. 3D shapes, and simple addition and subtraction. โ๏ธOptional project - Sharing Project and Show & Tell: Each week there will be an art project/activity that corresponds with our weekly theme. Students will have the option to complete and share their project by posting a picture to the classroom page or bringing it to class. Students are encouraged to have the worksheets ready to complete during class. However, they are welcome to use a blank piece of paper or some type of drawing board as well to follow along. Markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc. will be useful to have readily available during class. I will be using the mute button at times in my class for games or to get rid of any background noise. It is encouraged that a parent be seated with the attending child to help them unmute themselves when necessary. However, if this is not possible, please make sure your child knows how to properly unmute themselves so they can fully participate. For the safety and privacy of my students, I will not be sharing the recording to my lessons. Concerns about absences or refunds can be discussed beforehand, or addressed with Outschool Support. Some days we will have โbrain breaksโ and/or other activities that involve movement. Please make sure that the childโs workspace has room for them to move around a bit and is free of any tripping hazards. If this is not possible, the student is encouraged to stay seated and dance while in their chair. The weekly science themes will sometimes emphasize US secular holidays. We will point them out on the calendar, and some of our lessons and art projects/activities may touch on the holiday subject. Birthdays will also be celebrated by singing to the student. If you or your child is uncomfortable with the weekly theme or does not want to be sung to on their birthday, you are welcome to unsubscribe them for that week and/or send me a private message with questions or concerns. My lessons are easily alterable to not mention the holiday, and I would gladly accommodate. I am so excited to have your child in my class this year! Please message me with any questions that you might have! :] See you in class!
