*Experience required: Beginners with an engaged learning mindset are most welcome!! Prior car-drawing experience is helpful but not needed.* Welcome! In this vehicle design crash course, we will learn everything needed to design a rad vehicle. In this crash course, what you'll learn will apply to cars, motorcycles, car-like flying cars, spaceships, or small ships! 🟠 Class Structure 🟠 We will cover everything you'll need to design a stunning vehicle concept, from basic automotive mechanics and dynamic sketching, to how to use Procreate to render vehicles with excellent, reality-based shading and chrome reflections! Here is a breakdown of what we will be covering in our intensive: ☑️ Vehicle Mechanics - When Form Follows Function First, we'll cover what makes a car, well, a car! We'll create a bare-bone reality-based template to establish a vehicle's "backbone structure." ☑️ Dynamic Sketching - To Draw is to See Next, we'll seek to "unlearn" limiting drawing practices sabotaging most aspiring artists. Then by "relearning" new ways of sketching, we will make sketches of a car side-view in ways you may not have imagined before! This intensive is an excellent supplementary STEAM art class to help students express their designs. This intensive is a great crash course for students who love cars, motorcycles, and spacecraft. This class is also great for artists who want to learn how to give a more "engineering and mechanical" feel to their sketches. With time, diligence, and guided practice, what you'll learn here can help you land a job at car companies, gaming studios, or legendary powerhouses like the Industrial Light and Magic (Star Wars)!
Learning Goals
Students will have first-hand exposure to learning, sketching, designing, and rendering their car / automotive design - the way professionals do it. They'll learn the entire design process, from learning a car's underlying structures (automotive package design) to utilizing simple lines, circles, and curves to sketch a stylish yet mechanically believable vehicle. Students will then learn to transfer their sketches onto Procreate and finally finish by learning how to digitally add color, shade, and chrome reflections to their "finished vehicle concept"!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I graduated from Art Center College of Design, one of the world's top industrial design and car design schools. I've also had many years of experience designing land and space-age vehicles. Because of that, I possess an in-depth knowledge and experience on the process of designing automobiles and vehicle concepts. I bring to my students an "up-to-date" kind of experience - one that's infused with a lot of humor, diligent work, real-world-based insights and life experiences together.
On top of that, I have over 12 years of experience, teaching design and visual communication as a sought-after local art teacher in multiple after hour programs in Southern California. I love working with kids and youths, as they also enjoy the kind of dynamic, fun and "hands-on" type of teaching which I constantly model and demonstrate.
My vision - and my teaching style - goes beyond merely teaching art. I aim to inspire and equip the innovative creative leader within every child or youth.
