This class is a fun version of the internet popular "3 Marker Challenge" where students will be asked not to look when choosing 3 different markers. It's always fun to see what markers everyone has chosen. The markers need to be in great shape with good coloring power for this assignment. The parent will need to download the provided coloring sheets available for this class. There will be two to choose from. One coloring sheet is a picture of a Unicorns face and the other coloring sheet is a picture of a Tropical Bird. These art pieces are original designs created by Teacher Lisa. The students and I will discuss the 3 Marker Challenges that they've seen and look at a few short clips of other students participating in the art challenge via YouTube for context purposes. Each student will be enlisted to close their eyes and choose 3 markers for the challenge. Once everyone has chosen their markers and coloring sheets, the coloring challenge begins. If a student was not able to upload and print out the provided coloring sheet, they will be enlisted to draw their own picture before coloring it. I will color along with the students and provide commentary during the class while showing my art on an overhead camera. I will let the students know when the time for coloring has ended and we will take turns showing our finished colored art piece. The purpose of this art challenge other than to have fun is to enlist young artists to think about the application of color and what to do with non-traditional colors used for subject matter and experiment on how to make the colors work.
