Class Experience

In each class the students will study a different subject matter each week. We will focus on people, things in nature such as animals, plants, still life, fictional characters such as Super heros, Anime characters and Unicorns. Students will learn how other artists render these subjects and be encouraged to create their own. They will create their own original designs with very basic art materials such as pencils, thin black marker, colored markers, colored pencils and/or crayons. In 2022 we may explore other art mediums such as oil pastels, colored pencils and crayons.
Students who do not complete their drawings during class time are encouraged to work on them on their own time. The goal of the student should be to complete the drawings each week. Students will be encouraged to keep their drawings from week to week as a collection or portfolio of their work. Students can show their finished work the following week at the beginning of class as well as show any artwork they are working on.
Here is a list of art materials suggested. 2B-4B drawing pencils, an eraser and a small hand held pencil sharpener, papermate medium black flair pens, a set of colored pencils and/or crayons, one ream of white card stock or a drawing pad. Stores in the U.S. can purchase art supplies from Wal Mart, Target, Dollar Stores, some Grocery stores.
Students art work will be critiqued each week during class.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
