This class will be enjoyed most by young artists who love to draw and create from their own imagination. We will use visual references that can help us create our own original art piece. Students will be introduced to different art styles based on the theme of the day. Recommended supplies will be: Drawing Pad/paper ( I highly recommend White Card Stock and will be using it for demonstration, it does not wrinkle and bend as easily.) There are also some drawing pads with more durable paper. Drawing Pencils and a good Eraser 1 pack of Black Paper Mate Flair Markers (Medium) 2-3 Black Med/Thick Chisel Sharpies 1 Marker Set with a variety of Colors I try to make it easy on parents so you should be able to find any of these basic art materials online Amazon.com, Wal Mart, Target, Dollar Store, Michael's even some Grocery stores with an office supply section. Each week we will have a theme and we will explore that theme by reviewing our reference material such as images from a site called Canva and looking at preselected clips from YouTube in order to create our with our art pieces. Students will be able to see the teacher draw and will be encouraged to create their own original artwork. My teaching style is organic and I like to allow the students to share their own ideas in class. I initiate some conversations while we create together. I encourage originality but I will offer a guided "How to" instruction when requested or I see that a student is struggling. Students are praised and encouraged throughout the lesson. I use images and sometimes age appropriate videos to share knowledge of art styles and technique. I also use instrumental music for students to relax and draw to and become one with their art. I encourage limited group discussion on a volunteer basis. HERE ARE THE DAILY THEMES : We meet Monday-Friday. Supply List
Supplies List: MY RECOMMENDATIONS: Student work would be best if they used a durable white drawing paper. I use card stock, it is sturdy and readily available at any printing store or online and reasonably priced. All of my marker sets are well under $40. Caliart Markers are great they have two different size tips on one marker. I USE THESE!!! Soucolor Markers are brush-like markers but cannot cover large areas. Colored pencils are excellent for a more professional look when rendering. All Students will need a black markers. I use Papermate (Medium) Black Felt Tip Markers, Black Sharpies both Medium and Wide tips. Students should have sharpened drawing pencils and a good clean eraser. FRIDAYS 3D Art Scrap Materials; ( Anything the student wants to use, bring it to class)
