In this ongoing class, second grade aged students will develop and strengthen math skills. In class, I will introduce and reinforce math skills appropriate for second grade leveled students that have completed 1st grade. Homeschool parents can use this class to assist with introducing skills or supplement learning. The main categories that will be introduced are as follows: counting to 1000, names of numbers, addition and subtraction using 1, 2 and 3 digits, place value, comparing numbers, word problems, telling time, interpreting graphs, and more. Students will have an opportunity to engage in class by greeting one another, answering questions and games. Students will have an opportunity to practice concepts in class with weekly provided worksheets and engaging activities. While I give instruction and teach targeted concepts, I also provide students a chance to speak, develop listening skills, critical thinking and the space to be comfortable with trying.
