In this ongoing camp, learners that will soon enter or have completed 1st grade will develop and/or strengthen core subject skills as well as other areas. After all, why should learning stop in the Summer? We will of course have fun every meeting. Every week we will have Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science or Fine Arts. The main Math skills that will be introduced are as follows: addition and subtraction through 100, place value, comparing numbers, word problems, telling time and interpreting graphs. The main Language Arts skills that will be introduced are as follows: main idea, point of view, shades of meaning. The main Social Studies skills are as follows: rules, people in the community, wants and needs. For Science we will learn about life science, weather, etc. For Fine Arts we will explore music and art. There will be crafts and/or experiments almost every week. I try to use common things around the house or items that can be grabbed at the Dollar Store. Students will have an opportunity to engage in class by greeting one another, answering questions, games and show & tell. Show & tell will be held every Thursday. Students will have an opportunity to practice concepts in class with weekly provided worksheets and engaging activities. There is lots of movement in class, your learning area needs to allow room to move. 👉Join anytime👈 📅Week of June 02, 2024- All About Me - addition / main idea /rules/ art project 📅Week of June 09, 2024 - Bears- addition / point of view / people in the community/ science project 📅Week of June 16, 2024 - Sticky Things - subtraction /point of view / America 📅Week of June 23, 2024 - Fairy Tales - subtraction / shades of meaning / land forms /science experiment

Hi! My name is Mrs. LaShana! I love teaching math classes. I also love teaching Preschool. I have worked with children for over 15 years. I worked as a daycare teacher for 6 years. I have an Associate's degree in Elementary Education. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Fun fact: Mathematics was my my original major in college until Senior year. I am using all those skills to teach. I am a former homeschool mother of 3 children. I am always learning. I think it is a life-long journey. I think learning should be continuous and exciting! My hobbies are cooking, sewing, and crafting. Interesting fact: I once decorated a mirror filled with pennies!
