US Grade 2
I will teach the Common Core Language standards in this class and engage the students to answer questions throughout the lesson. This small group of students works together for better understanding. Syllabus Week 1 - Reading fiction and nonfiction passages with reading comprehension questions. Opinion writing practice, Spelling words, Nouns (common, proper, plural, Irregular, collective, and recognizing nouns in a sentence), and vocabulary Week 2 - Reading fables, folktales, informational text with questions for comprehension. Writing about an event with details. Spelling word practice, Verbs (past, present, future, and Irregular verbs), and vocabulary Week 3 - Reading informational passages with contrast and comparing text. Informational and research writing practice. Spelling word practice (endings), adjectives, capitals, contractions, and vocabulary. Reading points of view, informational passages, and poems Week 4 - Reading fiction and informational passages with comprehension questions (recall facts, sequence events, and author's purpose) Spelling word practice, research writing continued, adverbs, prefixes, suffixes, sentence structure, and vocabulary. Letter writing, commas, pronouns, apostrophes, and vocabulary are also covered.

Supply List: pencils eraser spiral notebook colored pencils or crayons highlighter 2 books that are the student's favorite. We will use these to compare and discuss story elements.
