Class Experience

This 25 minute voice class caters directly to you and your singer's needs. From audition or show prep, to introducing our beginner singers to their very first lesson, this is a safe and inviting space to sing for all ages and abilities.

This class can be taken time and again as each class gets modified to you, your student and their needs that day! If there is something specific you’re hoping to work on in today’s class, please do not hesitate to send me a private message ahead of class start time. 24 hours notice is preferred especially if forwarding sheet music.

Class Breakdown: (*subject to change depending on skill level of vocalist and learning goals for this class)
1- Welcome chat
Let’s get to know one another before we begin! Please share with me what you love most about singing, what your favourite song to sing right now is, and what you hope to learn today or want our class to focus on. Please have one song selected prior to class start time (some suggestions below).

2- Vocal warmup
Vocal health is extremely important! Let’s explore why and how with guided vocal warm ups and more. From breath support, to singer’s stance, to sirens, Do Re Mi, and beyond, we will work towards building a strong base foundation in vocal technique or honing in on tricky spots for advanced singers.

3- Application of vocal technique to song of choice
Please select in advance a song for us to work on today and let me know what it is upon enrolment. This should be a song your learner is already familiar with so as not to worry about memorizing lyrics during class time. I am quite familiar with music from the Disney repertoire, and a wide variety of music theatre pieces as well, but anything goes from rock to pop to country just please let me know in advance so I can prepare for class ahead of time.

In case your learner is stuck on selecting a song, I suggest one of the following:
Disney-
1- Part of Your World - The Little Mermaid
2- Let it Go - Frozen
3- Do You Wanna Build a Snowman - Frozen
4- How Far I’ll Go - Moana
5- At Last I See the Light - Tangled
6- A Whole New World - Aladdin

Music Theatre- songs from the following shows sung by young performers:
1- Annie
2- Seussical the Musical
3- Mary Poppins
4- Sound of Music

Please note, I am not an accompanist. I am a classically trained, music theatre, pop/rock vocalist and use keyboard skills, backing tracks, recordings, and call and answer (I do - You do) exercises in my teachings.

I truly look forward to singing with you! Please do not hesitate to reach out about further information and details. This class can be taken time and again as each class caters individually to you, your schedule, and your vocal needs on that day.

Additional class suggestions for success and info:
1- **Please ensure the following audio settings are set up prior to class start time:
Zoom - Settings - Audio - Suppress Background Noise - LOW (or) *Enable original sound on iPad or iPhone.
2- Please contact me to arrange weekly or biweekly sessions at a recurring time that suits both of us best!
3- If interested in song coachings (ie: for auditions, for shows, performances, and concerts) I recommend my song coaching class here https://outschool.com/classes/private-vocal-coaching-sing-act-and-master-confidence-40-minutes-ECYyrQyd?usid=DKg7u9Su&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link
4- If learners are a little shy about trying beginner voice lessons, please don’t fear. I specialize in building confidence as part of each and every class. I myself used to be an extremely shy young performer and through some amazing vocal teachers, I can’t imagine a life without being on stage.
5- If siblings or friends would like to take this class together, let’s absolutely arrange this! Please contact me in advance to secure a discount for this option.

Thank you so very much for your interest in this class!
