Beginner - Advanced Level
In private sight-singing lessons, students will learn to sight-sing and build confidence! Lessons will cover a range of topics, including application of solfege, reading on the treble and/or bass staff, identification of key signatures, and reading rhythms in various meters. Each class meeting typically begin with a sight-singing warmup and review of concepts from the previous lesson, followed guided application of sight-singing techniques for new melodic material. Lessons are tailored to the student's individual learning style and level of experience. This class is suitable for complete beginners, as well as students with prior experience. My teaching style is very flexible, supportive, and positive. I give my students space to explore and make mistakes, but I also encourage them to hold themselves to a high standard and do their best. My motto is "progress, not perfection."
Learning Goals
Students will learn about solfege syllables and how to apply them to a given melody to facilitate sight-singing.
Students will learn about other musical elements, including rhythm, key signatures, time signatures, and accidentals.
