For fans of the Harry Potter series, this class is a deep dive into The Tales of Beedle the Bard, the short fairy tales that are mentioned throughout the Potter series. Students will read and discuss the stories, as well as how they relate to what we already know from the wizarding world. Each session, students will respond to the story in writing with Reader Response questions which ask the student to apply what they have learned from the tales, and offer some critical analysis. Each class session will also include an activity that will ask students to produce some evidence of the practical application of the readings, as well as an opportunity to engage and exchange ideas with classmates. Students will utilize reading and comprehension skills to discuss the fairy tales written in The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Students will practice responding to literature through text, utilizing specific passages and comparing and contrasting literary elements. Students will also have the opportunity to use technology to create their own stories, providing an engaging creative writing element to our class.其他詳情

We will be using the Google suit of products: Google Docs to answer comprehension questions and creative writing assignments and Google Slides to start class each week. Each class will have an agenda that includes a reading, an activity, and a homework assignment. Often these activities will take place on a Google Jamboard or Document, as we meet to share ideas, review homework, and answer Bellringer activities.
Kahoot.com will be used for review quizzes to assess reading and comprehension and does not require a student to create an account. Similarly, Padlet.com will be used as a fun way to have the entire class participating as one. The students will follow a code that I give them, and will not be required to create an account.
Bookcreator.com will be used to create stories and online books simply and easily. Students will not need to create an account for this website. They will be provided a link in class to utilize this resource. A short clip of The Tale of the Three Brothers will be shown from Youtube.com, as we compare and contrast the book and the movie version.
