This class will focus on three different short stories that will be listed below and provided by the instructor. We will be reading the short stories in class together and analyzing, practicing study skills, notetaking skills, and then applying these skills to both written and oral discussions based on the exposition of the novel, character analysis, setting, insight into situations, challenges and conflicts,plot, predictions, themes, and life lessons. Learners are asked to bring a highlighter and a pen or pencil and a copy of the PDF that will be sent by the teacher for each class that will contain the short story that we will be working on on that particular day. Therefore, all the materials will be supplied in that PDF and learners are asked not to work on the stories ahead of time, but rather bring them to class. As indicated above, the short stories for this class are Becky and the Wheels and Brake Boys, The Scholarship Jacket, and Eleven.
The three short stories that will be used in this class will be supplied by the teacher by way of PDFs, and will arrive at least 48 hours before class, so that they can be printed and brought to class with a highlighter, pen and pencil. The stories are Becky And the Wheels and Brake Boys, The Scholarship Jacket, and Eleven.
