課堂經歷
In this one-time class, we will make a circular frame from a sturdy paper plate, and then place 16 slits around the edge using visual estimation. We will create circular patterns in three configurations that will form layers and color and yarn choices will make each of these mandalas unique. Learners will have the skills to make additional mandalas in patterns of their choosing. The patterns we create will be based on input/output tables, also known as function tables. I will be cutting, estimating and patterning right along with you. I will have a second camera on my desktop so you can clearly see my work and I can back up and demonstrate any number of times to be sure all learners are coming along. There are many steps and we will have each part in hand before we move on. Small class size assures everyone gets the attention and guidance they need and we all have a successful class.

Hello! My name is Diane, and I have been teaching art and STEAM classes to children in public schools for more than 20 years, both in-person and via remote learning.
Our learners today get plenty of opportunities to manipulate data.
But what about measuring, cutting, folding, manipulating, and attaching real objects?
Here in my learning lab I’ve created a series of classes that gets kids making things with their hands. We incorporate math, geometry, physics, and engineering – all in the practical way we approach building and making.
This hand/mind connection gives us greater understanding of how the world around us is put together.
I want all kids to feel confident that they have the skills to make the things they seen in their imagination.
