In this 1-on-1 tutoring class, I will explicitly teach the learner essential test-taking skills. I will have slides prepared with each skill on them and a mock standardized test to use as an example. In a SINGLE** session, the learner will practicing using various test-taking skills using a first grade standardized test. They'll focus on using the strategies and skills rather than getting the answers correct. Basic skills that I will cover include reading the directions, “marking” a...
- Learners will develop critical thinking skills. Learners will analyze written questions and answers. Learners will develop good study skills. Learners will grow in managing test anxiety. Learners will grow in managing their time. Leaners will understand why test-taking skills are important. Learners will reflect on what they’re learning and how they’re feeling about test-taking.
I have proctored multiple standardized tests in public and homeschool. I teach mindfulness and yoga. I have effectively taught these test-taking skills to learners, ages 6 to 13.
