In this class students will develop one of  the skills needed for a deeper understanding of what they are reading.  Your student will learn how to visualize while reading. As your child advances through school, using visualization will help them gain the critical thinking skills necessary to be successful when reading materials for various purposes.

  During class scholars will practice "how to" make pictures in their heads while reading and they will practice applying what they have learned.  

  Visualization Class Activities
Brainstorm... What is visualization and what helps readers create images in their mind?
Listen...         Short story visualization activity.
Discuss...      Author's choice of words or clues used to help readers "see" visualize the setting and actions of the story.
Practice...      Students will create their own scene to share.

I am a certified teacher who has more than 20 years of experience adapting lessons to meet the individualized needs of scholars.  I believe people learn through practice and they remember because it was fun learning.  Therefore, students will have plenty of opportunities to practice these skills in a comfortable and fun setting.  My hope is that each scholar will feel confident and successful when they are in my classroom.
