每週 2-4 小時. Students will be assigned weekly homework practices and quizzes. Practice homework will be weighted 10% of overall grade. Quizzes will be weighted 30% of overall grade. I will grade assignments and quizzes weekly.

The learner will be assessed at the completion of each unit. Assessments will be weighted 60% of overall grade. A Progress Report will be sent about Week 8 and a Transcript will be sent at the completion of the course. ➢ A+ = 97 – 100 ➢ A = 96.9 - 93 ➢ A- = 92.9 - 90 ➢ B+ = 87 – 89.9 ➢ B = 86.9 - 83 ➢ B- = 82.9 - 80 ➢ C+ = 77 - 79.9 ➢ C = 76.9 – 73 ➢ C- = 72.9 - 70 ➢ D+ = 67 - 69.9 ➢ D = 66.9 - 63 ➢ D- = 62.9 - 60 ➢ F = 59.9 and below

Course Description: This class will review the basic operations of arithmetic on integers, fractions and decimals.
These operations will be used in dealing with ratio, proportions, percent, simple geometry and algebra. As students
master these basic concepts, they will move into basic algebra. Students will be expected to understand basic operations
with integers, rational numbers, irrational, and real numbers; the use of variables; properties of numbers and of equality;
solving equations and inequalities; problem solving with real world applications.

CLASS STRUCTURE
I use PowerPoint Notes for every lesson to begin our DISCUSSIONS.  As I teach a topic, I use GUIDED PRACTICES to have students work on problems with white board or paper/pencil asking them to raise their hand when finished.  I then call on various students to CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY
I use a varied approach to my teaching:
** Flipped Approach - Students will use educational technology to introduce concepts; they are asked to view the SUPPORT VIDEOS prior to meeting for class time. 
** Formative Assessments - Students will complete a short EXIT QUIZ for each lesson.
**Visual and Hands-on - Students will be asked to make drawings or colored chips as algebra tiles.

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE 
**Practice multiplication and division without paper (“mental math”).
**Practice rounding decimals with dollars and coins, or with the prices of objects listed in advertisements.
**Discuss positive and negative numbers in terms of credits and debits using a bank account or a bill.

Week 8 - Comparing and Ordering Fractions and Decimals
Week 9 - Operations with Fractions
Week 10 - Using Customary Units of Measure and Conversions
Week 11 - Solving Equations by Adding & Subtracting Fractions
Week 12 - Solving Equations by Multiplication & Division Fractions
Week 13 - Review and Test 2

Unit 6 - Ratios, Rates, Proportions and Percents
Week 14 - Ratios, Unit Rates, and Proportions
Week 15 - Similar Figures and Probability
Week 16 - Fractions, Decimals and Percents
Week 17 - Percent Equations and Change
Week 18 - Review and Test 3

Course Materials:
Spiral notebook for organizational purposes.  Create dividers to keep notes, course work and handouts, tests and quizzes
Computer/ Printer/Copy Paper
Paper/Pencil 
Calculator (not required but recommend so that students can use them on their own) at times students will be required to
do their math without the use of a calculator also.
