🫶 CLASS SYNOPSIS 🫶
☀️ Poetry will often follow rules of rhyme scheme, meter, and more; this one time middle school course will learn about these structures through studying Sonnet 18 by Shakespeare
☀️ Not only will students be introduced to one of the most famous poems of all time (Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare), they will be challenged to understand it in both meaning and form.
🫶 OVERVIEW/DETAILS 🫶
☀️ Single 55 minutes class
☀️ Class time includes in-class comprehension/discussion questions, a powerpoint lesson, and provided skeleton notes
☀️ Lesson will cover the four elements of a Sonnet
☀️ Line, Rhyme-scheme, Syllable count, and Meter will all be defined, taught, and practiced
☀️ Students will practice comprehension and analysis of a poem

☀️ Student-to-student discussion and interaction
☀️ I aim to facilitate conversation, protect think-time, and posing questions that provoke deeper thought based on the central text.
