Each class will be introducing a new spelling rule concept. C/K/CK Rule: This is often a confusing rule for students but through the Orton-Gillingham approach, it is made fun and kinaesthetic. Buzz off Miss Pill: doubling final consonants in certain words that end in z, f, s, l. Drop the E Rule: this rule is one of the most common errors students make. For example: excite+ing= exciting (the E is dropped) BUT excite+ment= excitement (the E is NOT dropped). Why is that? 1•1•1 Doubling...
I have been an educator for nearly 23 years. First as a preschool teacher, then an Orton-Gillingham therapeutic tutor for children with learning disabilities and then as a homeschool parent and writing teacher. My extensive background in education and particularly in the language arts realm, allows me to have a unique expertise in educating children in all things reading, writing & spelling!
