This 36-week live online course is specifically designed to provide comprehensive coverage of the Common Core State Standards for 6th-grade mathematics. Students will engage in interactive virtual sessions four times a week, each session lasting 25 minutes. Through a combination of real-time instruction, guided practice, and collaborative activities, students will develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and build a solid foundation for future mathematical success. Course Objectives: 1. Develop fluency in mathematical operations and apply them to real-world scenarios. 2. Understand and apply ratios and proportional relationships. 3. Analyze and solve problems involving fractions, decimals, and percentages. 4. Explore the properties of integers and rational numbers. 5. Understand and apply concepts of algebraic expressions and equations. 6. Explore geometric concepts and their applications. 7. Analyze data and solve problems using statistical measures. 8. Utilize probability concepts to make predictions and analyze outcomes. Course Outline: Weeks 1-4: Number System - Place value and operations with whole numbers - Factors and multiples - Divisibility rules - Operations with decimals and fractions - Order of operations - Integers and absolute value Weeks 5-8: Ratios and Proportional Relationships - Ratio and rate reasoning - Proportional relationships and equations - Unit rates and constant of proportionality - Percent and percentage problems Weeks 9-12: Expressions and Equations - Evaluating and simplifying algebraic expressions - Writing and solving one-step equations - Inequalities and their solutions - Applying properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions Weeks 13-16: Geometry - Area, surface area, and volume - Coordinate plane and graphing - Properties of geometric figures - Angles and their measurements - Transformations and congruence Weeks 17-20: Statistics and Probability - Analyzing data sets - Measures of central tendency and variability - Representing data on graphs - Probability and predicting outcomes - Experimental and theoretical probability Weeks 21-24: Rational Numbers - Rational number operations - Operations with positive and negative fractions - Equivalent fractions, decimals, and percents - Rational numbers on the number line Weeks 25-28: Mathematical Reasoning - Patterns and relationships - Identifying and extending number patterns - Solving problems using patterns and rules - Reasoning with mathematical models - Logical thinking and problem-solving strategies Weeks 29-32: Data Analysis - Statistical measures and interpretation - Constructing and interpreting data displays - Measures of central tendency and variability - Probability models and simulations - Interpreting and making predictions from data Weeks 33-36: Review and Final Assessment - Comprehensive review of all major topics - Application of concepts in real-world scenarios - Final assessment to evaluate overall understanding and proficiency By the end of this course, students will have developed a strong understanding of the 6th-grade Common Core math standards, enabling them to confidently apply mathematical concepts in various contexts and prepare for further mathematical studies.

I am a certified middle school math teacher in Illinois and Indiana. I hold 2 master’s degrees in teaching and special education and I am currently working on a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction. I am highly skilled at adapting to different learning styles and tailoring lessons to meet the individual student’s needs. Since 2003 I have taught math to students in 6th thru 10th grade.
