GRATITUDE…It's about focusing on what's good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have. Gratitude is pausing to notice and appreciate the incredible, yet simple things that we often take for granted, like an ice cream cone, a beautiful flower, a soft kitten, or the smell of fresh baked cookies. In this class, students will: 1. learn what gratitude is. 2. explore how to look at life through a grateful lens. 3. identify ways to find things we are grateful for. 4. practice and develop concrete skills they can incorporate into their daily lives. 5. earn their GRATITUDE badge and certificate. 6. HAVE FUN!
Professionally, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have a Masters of Education (MEd) and Masters of Social Work (MSW) with a focus on Child Development (Risk and Prevention). My passion is helping children realize their potential by teaching them skills to help them lead positive, productive lives. I know that learning happens best in an environment that is engaging and interactive. My goal is to teach material in a way that is fun and memorable.

Also, crayons/markers/colored pencils (whatever you have) will be used after class to complete the assignments. Some homework assignments may also require safety scissors (with adult supervision) and glue. If you would like to complete the "MY BEST ME" binder to organize all of your LIFE SKILLS SERIES materials, you will need a half-inch binder (or 1 inch if you can't find a 1/2 inch binder) with a clear front pocket.

Parental involvement is encouraged so that the ideas we talk about in class can be reinforced between classes. Repetition and reinforcement is critical, especially with little learners. The more my little learners are talking about these concepts outside of class, the easier it will be for them to incorporate them into their daily lives and mindset.
