🏆📚 Welcome to Let's Write - Writer’s Workshop Series! 📚🏆

This flexible series allows learners to discover and practice critical writing skills each weekend. Regardless of their age, experience, or ability, all learners will benefit from joining in the fun and working on their writing skills!

This course is offered every week. Each week, a new writing, grammar, or language skill is practiced and a writing task is completed. Whether your learner joins for individual classes or becomes an ongoing member of the Writer’s Workshop series, we will work hard, have fun, and learn lots!

NOTE: This is a continuous series and learners can join a section that has already started. To continue, be sure to re-enroll your learner in the next section as well.

Join an available spot on your ideal day and time, join a waitlist if unavailable, or request desired time to be added (Saturday only for this series for now).

🏆📚 What will be taught? What topics will you cover? 📚🏆

Each session will cover one writing skill. These skills can range from choosing a topic, brainstorming ideas, using descriptive language, stretching sentences with more details, and more!

This series may support and challenge skills that some learners are familiar with or need to strengthen, or it may extend and enrich the writing skills for others. This unique style of class is appropriate for learners of all ages and abilities, and ultimately gives every learner a chance to write!

Learners should have basic writing skills up to writing words and sentences to be successful in this course.

🏆📚 How is the class structured?  📚🏆

Our agenda is:
- Connect Time (0-5 min for learners to join class)
- Welcome (building rapport, establishing routines, 5 min)
- Word Game (fun brain warm up, 5 min)
- Skill (simple explanation and example of target learning, 5 min)
- Write (hand warm up, brainstorming, and time to write, 20 min)
- Share (time to share writing, 5 min)

(As this is a multi-learner session, we have ~5 min. built into the beginning to allow learners to connect and troubleshoot technology. Depending on pacing, we may finish in 40 min. instead of 45)

🏆📚 How will I teach? What's my teaching style? 📚🏆

I keep things moving! I teach with a brisk pace and use learner-friendly language and tone. My goal is that when students join me for my Writer’s Series, they engage with it, enjoy it, and want to come back next week for more!

🏆📚How much will learners get to interact with me? 📚🏆

Learners may...
- answer a fun welcome question
- follow along with my screenshared presentation. 
- use the reactions and hand raising features of Zoom.
- volunteer to ask and answer questions 
- play a fun word game
- take notes about the writing skill (older learners)
- participate in a physical hand warm up
- share ideas for brainstorming
- share what they wrote or plan to write
- post a picture of their writing (and possibly drawing) on classroom page

Most of this class involves modeling and visual support, so learners with unique learning needs will benefit from this opportunity. The class is designed to allow learners to participate how they are comfortable with.
