Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
This discussion forum is designed to provide students with an opportunity to talk about current international topics . We will spend our time thinking, discussing, and understanding ideas and information pertinent to today's current world. The discussion will be modelled after the tradition of European intellectual roundtables held in cafes in the 19th and 20th Centuries. We won't cover all topics, but will rather explore a few key developments from a starting list provided by the teacher that the majority of students would like to learn more about.

Learning Goals

This class will thus emphasize the development of cognitive skills such as critical thinking, analysis, and relating different topics to one another. Also, students will get a chance to practice their speaking and class conversation skills.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
The study of international relations deals with some sensitive topics in the world such as various regional conflicts. I take great care to present the content in an age appropriate manner.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
There are many sources that are used for teaching and discussing international relations in this course. Dr. Brezina studied (and still study) various primary and secondary sources (articles, books, dissertations, etc.) during his years as a teacher and professor of history and international relations that will allow him to interpret the current world affairs objectively and address the full range of a variety of issues facing the world, including marginalized populations. For example, he will draw from The Economist and the Foreign Affairs magazine both of which are commonly used as objective and well-respected sources in the field of international relations. (However, the students are not required to purchase or use these magazines.)
