This is a interactive flexible schedule class where students will be able to learn about interesting mammals all around the world. There will be two lesson videos posted each week which can be watched whenever is convenient for the student. These video lessons will have 10 mammals in each lesson (20 mammals per week, 80 mammals total). Seven of the eight video lessons will each be assigned a continent, from which we will learn about mammals that reside there (integrating continent geography into the lesson). During the videos there will be fun pop up questions to keep the video interactive and allow the students to be engaged in learning. The students will not only learn about the mammals themselves, but they will also learn about subjects such as endangered, extinct, vulnerable, habitat loss, conservation, climate, camouflage, etc. On our classroom page, there will be a flow of discussion questions that the students will be able to participate in. There will be also fun Quizlet activities that will allow each student to continue to practice their new knowledge. During these four weeks, the students will be working on their own project (optional). They will be able to choose a mammal in the world that they would like to do research on and create a research project (optional). I will be actively engaging with the students throughout the four weeks. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or requests.

Welcome! My name is Kristin, and I am so excited to meet your learner(s)! I am a certified teacher with a B.S. Ed. in Early Childhood Education and in Special Education. I have many years of both classroom teaching and online teaching experience. Outside of Outschool, I am a business owner and I was a horse riding instructor. My philosophy of teaching is not just imparting knowledge to the learner. Instead, I believe that it more important to inspire learners to love learning, while imparting new knowledge. It is the love of learning that will drive a person to grow, succeed, and inspire others. My classroom is a safe place for all learners of all abilities. I am very experienced in accommodating the needs and preferences of each learner. As a teacher, it is my job to make sure that all students are learning, encouraged, and successful in my classroom. As a teacher, I have taught all classroom subjects, therefore, I have a variety of class options. My focus is on literature, life skills, nature, history, and geography. Beyond teaching, some of my personal passions include horseback riding (English and Western styles), reading, playing guitar, dancing, training dogs, learning new languages, and traveling. What is your learner’s passion? I love to be able to incorporate students' interests into their learning experience. I am always open to hearing your feedback, ideas, and preferences. I hope to see your learner(s) soon!
