In this 1:1 tutoring class, students will learn how to approach challenging text by utilizing effective reading comprehension strategies. Comprehension strategies may include: utilizing background knowledge/relating to real-world experiences, questioning, making inferences, synthesizing, determining importance, identifying genre structure, and creating sensory images. I will assess student strengths and areas of need during our first session and determine the best comprehension strategies...
I have ~10 years of experience teaching high school students. I taught high school students as a GED instructor at a local college, led an afterschool high school poetry club, and have tutored high school students in English Language Arts and AP History for the past four years.
Assessment
頻率: 包括細節: I will assess student strengths and areas of need periodically and will adjust the curriculum based on these assessments.
I have worked with diverse learning needs (e.g., ADHD and dyslexia) and will discuss and adapt to what works best for each student.
