Attention all budding historians! It's time to take the plunge and have a closer look at early history in Canada and Québec. In this eight-week course, students will learn about some of the important topics of Canadian history. A detailed list of topics covered can be found below. A slideshow presentation with pictures and key information will be viewed by students and discussion questions will help guide class time. Whenever possible, firsthand accounts will be provided through video or other media. My goal as your child's teacher is to have them retain the information of those who lived during those times and gain an empathetic understanding of the circumstances that shaped Canada as it is important to understand the lasting impacts that history has on our present world. Students will create a main lesson book entry including the week's lesson and personal artwork. This helps to solidify their understanding and retention of the topics covered. Students are required to have their cameras on to allow the teacher to check in and verify each learner. After check-in, students have the option of either turning off their camera or leaving it on, whatever their preference is. Missed Classes & Refunds All our classes are backed by the ‘Limited’ refund policy. Parents may withdraw up to a week before class starts with a full refund OR within 24 hours of purchase. In the event a learner misses a class, recordings are made available in each classroom. Students are more than welcomed to reach out for any questions and share their work in the classroom. Late/ Missed Class All classes will begin on time as long as one learner is in the classroom. In the event that no students are in the classroom at the assigned class time, the teacher will leave a message in the classroom and exit after ten minutes of waiting per Outschool policy. Hello Parents and Students!
My name is Mrs Stefanie and I am a teacher here at Outschool! My passion for history started young listening to my grandfather's stories about being a pilot, helping to map Canada's wild north and his experiences during WW2. I have taken interest courses on Canadian history from pre-contact to the 20th century to keep my knowledge up to date, in order to teach within a homeschool environment and to other children within the community. My lessons are factually based using a variety of trusted sources on each subject as well as include age-appropriate firsthand perspectives whenever possible to present the student with as complete a representation as possible of the subject matter covered. I have been teaching and homeschooling for 13+ years to children aged 1 - 18 in all subjects but I'm most passionate about visual arts, nature sciences and history. I love to help my students create in order to retain the subject matter presented. I look forward to accompanying you on your learning journey!
