Class Experience
As a first grade teacher with over 23 years of experience in the classroom, there is nothing more rewarding than helping my students learn and grow with confidence in academics. We will meet to learn as a virtual class or "team" and grow in knowledge together. 

Using first grade standards introduced and taught in the third quarter of the school year, students will engage in focused phonics skills lessons, high frequency word practice, guided reading activities and journal writing. Each 55-minute lesson will follow a structured plan and lessons will build and spiral back for review:

1. Welcome Song With Movement 
2. Daily Warm Up Problems of First Grade Skills
3. High Frequency Word Practice (Dolch High Frequency Word List for First Grade)
4. Phonics Skills Lesson (digraphs, blends, long vowels, suffixes endings)
5. Guided Reading Activity 
6. White Board Review and Practice to Assess Skills Taught
7. Journal Writing (Complete Sentences, Capitalization Rules, Punctuation Marks, Correct Grammar)
   *Journal Writing may be extended outside of class and be required to complete as homework)
8. Goodbye Song
