One important tool to help your child grow in reading is to know their strengths and weaknesses. Teaching elementary students for over 26 years, I have been trained to use many different assessment tools to determine my student's reading levels. This individualized information helps to guide my instruction. As a parent, I find it crucial to know my own children's reading levels to help them progress at home and provide additional guidance to help them in the classroom. In this one-time class, students will meet with me one-on-one to assess their knowledge of letter identification, letter sounds, phonemic awareness, phonics skills, high frequency word recognition, reading comprehension and reading fluency. Parents will be provided data to show their child's strengths and weaknesses in these areas and be given their child's reading level.

Hello Parents and Students!
My name is Lori Costa and I have been an elementary school teacher for over 24 years. In addition, I have been teaching online for three years with private, small group, and large group classes. I specialize in teaching phonics, reading, writing, and art.
I have my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Children and the Arts. I also have my Multiple Subject Credential with CLAD emphasis.
I have three amazing kids of my own, who range in age from 10 to 19. My husband and I love to travel with our kids and make fun memories together. Trips to the beach are my favorite!
I plan to teach a variety of lessons that incorporate music, movement, art, reading and writing to reach all types of learners.
My philosophy of teaching is to make a personal connection with students throughout each lesson and encourage them every step of the way, instilling a life long love of learning!評論
