Then come and join us as we explore a brief biography of the life and career of some of these amazing women in film. Each week there will be a powerpoint presentation that includes film trailers and interviews. Some of the movies covered are PG-13 or R rated, but there will be no inappropriate material covered in class. Some of the women that we will be covering are: Week 1 - Kathryn Bigelow, Penny Marshall Week 2 - Ava DuVernay, Sofia Coppola Week 3 - Shona Rhimes, Lisa Cholodenko Week 4 - Jane Campion, Agnes Varda Week 5 - Gina Prince - Bythewood, Chantal Akerman Week 6 - Nora Ephron, Lone Scherfig Week 7 - Mira Nair, Kiersten Tan Week 8 - Roya Sadat, Hawa Essuman Each week, by Wednesday evening (9pm PST) - -I will email each student a link that weeks lecture and assignments. This will be on YouTube and is in a private account that is embedded into the Outschool classroom page. - Assignments will consist of discussion and essay questions, short research topics, Youtube videos, and worksheets. These will be posted on the classroom page. - In my flex classes, each family can determine the level of participation in the course. - Communication will be done through the Outschool classroom. -I will check in with each student several times during the week to check on progress of the homework, address any questions, or to engage in a discussion about the topic covered. Each student is encouraged to message (through the Outschool classroom) me anytime they have any questions or thoughts about the class. - Each week, there may be additional articles, videos, or pictures that will be posted to the classroom page to engage students in open conversations about that weeks topic. -Please message me before the start of class if you have any questions. Students will take a look at he varied careers of different women in film. We will discuss the different genres that they work in and how they approach storytelling differently.

Some of the movies discussed are rated R - violence, adult situations. It is not required that students watch the movies, but some movie trailers will be shown.
This class will utilize Youtube videos for sharing of lecture videos, as well as supplemental lessons. All Youtube videos are embedded into the Outschool platform. This class may also utilize Kahoot. Learners will be given a direct link and game pin to play.
