時裝設計 101：基礎知識

Aspiring fashion designer? Stylist? Just really love clothes? This is the class for you. Fashion Design: The Fundamentals will prepare students for further study in fashion design. This class will involve discussion on what fashion is, as well as drawing.

Day 1: 8-head figure
Learn to draw a female figure to turn into a "croquis"- a body to trace over and over again to draw clothes on. Also learn how to alter the female figure into a male fashion figure, if students are interested. Discussion will include what fashion is, and who fashion is for, with an emphasis on body positivity. 

Day 2: Rendering clothes
I will choose three looks for students to render. We will discuss best methods for rendering clothes. Discussion will include the purpose of technical drawing, and how this skill would be useful if they decided to pursue a career in fashion. Students will also learn basics of styling and drawing hair. 
HW: Choose an outfit in your own closet and render it on your croquis. 

Day 3: Moving Figures
Learn how to create motion in our fashion drawings. Students (and teacher) will take turns posing for other students to quickly create a motion sketch with joints. Students will each choose one of their sketches to convert into a croquis. 

These croquis can be used over and over again in future fashion design classes with me.
