課堂經歷
Travel is AMAZING, but not everyone traverse the country to see the Golden Gate Bridge, or cross the ocean to see the Taj Mahal. If we can't go there (and even when we can), why not (also) learn about it through ART?! * * * * This class is roughly divided into two parts: Part 1: - We look at pictures of the week's spotlighted landmark. Students can share their first impressions as they are comfortable, and if I have personal stories (my family loves to travel!) I'll share those, too. - We will cover FAST FACTS that everyone should know about the landmark (like that the White House is where the US President lives and works, and that the Eiffel Tower is in Paris, France) - And then we will cover FUN FACTS that are awesome for impressing family and friends over dinner (like, did you know that the Great Wall of China is partially made of rice, and that Buckingham Palace isn't air conditioned?!?) Part 2: - We take a hands-on approach to learning as we DRAW the landmark we are studying. Students can follow me through a directed drawing with plenty of room for creativity. Drawing is always one of the BEST ways to really let the learning sink in! * * * * My teaching style is warm, encouraging and lively and my goal is to nurture kids' natural love of learning and creating. This class is structured in 15 week blocks to fit into a classic homeschool curriculum, but is equally accessible to any learner who simply loves learning about geography, art, or both! Everyone has a different comfort level in group situations and that is perfectly fine.....this class is perfect for quiet learners and enthusiastic participants, alike. 2024 Winter/Spring Schedule: January 3rd: The Eiffel Tower January 10th: The Taj Mahal January 17th: Big Ben/Elizabeth Tower January 24th: No Class January 31st: The Great Pyramid of Giza February 7th : The Golden Gate Bridge February 14th: The Leaning Tower of Pisa February 21st: The White House February 28th: Buckingham Palace March 6th: The Colosseum March 13th: The Statue of Liberty March 20th: Stonehenge March 27th: Mount Fuji April 3rd: The Sydney Opera House April 10th: Burj Khalifa April 17th: The Western Wall (the Kotel) April 24th: The Louvre May 1st: Pompeii May 8th: The Palace of Versailles May 15th: The Hollywood Sign May 22nd: The Blue Domed Churches of Santorini, Greece May 29th: Notre Dame Cathedral
學習目標
Students will learn to recognize and understand the importance of 15 of the most iconic world landmarks and gain valuable artistic skills that can be utilized both to underscore their geographical learning, but also in future artistic endeavors. The full term of this class could be a social studies, geography, or art unit in a homeschool, but is equally accessible to the student who wants to pop in and learn about and draw a specific landmark.

Students may use whatever they wish to add color their drawings, which may include crayons, colored pencils, alcohol markers (a personal favorite!), oil pastels, or watercolor paints.

教師專業知識和證書
Hello! I'm Nicole, and I'm thrilled to be your child's guide to the beautiful world of discovering new things. My teaching style is warm, lively, and nurturing, creating a safe and engaging environment where every student can thrive. Over the years, I've been honored to develop deep relationships with my students. Some have gone from hating art to winning art awards and aspiring to become artists. I'm proud that many neurodivergent students who originally disliked learning now eagerly look forward to my classes each week.
I bring a diverse background to my teaching. As a lawyer and current stay-at-home homeschool teacher and co-op educator for other homeschooled students, I have a unique perspective on education. I graduated from college in just 10 months at the age of 19 and became Michigan's Attorney General Office's "Rookie of the Year" attorney at 22. My own fast-paced educational journey fueled my passion for helping students gain confidence in learning, understanding our world, and discovering their own unique abilities and callings within it.
In my classes, I strive to make learning an exciting adventure. I use interactive presentations and creative art projects to bring subjects to life, ensuring that every student feels valued and inspired. I'm passionate about helping students come alive with confidence in their learning journey, and I can't wait to embark on this educational and artistic adventure with your family!
