課堂經歷
**THIS CLASS HAS NO LIVE MEETINGS!!! Students will receive video lessons so that they can enjoy sculpting at their own pace. :) ** Let's sculpt some Christmas ornaments that your family can enjoy for years to come! This is a self-paced class so your student can work on their ornaments whenever they have free time. This class is comprised of 12 lessons. The instructions will be posted in video form with easy-to-follow pictures, video, and voice instructions. For each lesson, we will sculpt one or two polymer clay ornaments. Each ornament is approximately 2-3 inches tall. Students can upload photos of their finished ornaments, questions, and comments to the classroom discussion for the week. This class will teach some of the basics of sculpting such as conditioning clay, rolling a ball, making "snakes" and coils, and using basic clay tools. These foundational skills will equip your student with techniques they'll be able to use in and out of the classroom. Every class will have extensive, specific instruction, but students will also have a lot of creative freedom to choose the colors and types of decorations they want to complete each ornament. This class is excellent for beginners, but adult supervision is strongly encouraged for younger learners. Sculpting has a variety of benefits! -Improves fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination -Encourages problem solving and perseverance through trial and error -Cultivates creativity -Stimulates and engages the brain by learning through play
學習目標
Students will improve their hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, concentration, and spatial reasoning.

供應清單
I recommend this sculpt and bake kit. It is great for beginners and has tons of useful tools and colors. It also contains many eye pins for making your sculpture hangable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HQGP98D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_AmHIFbYBCEMC6 I have also used this smaller kit, and it is also excellent: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WJ41L9Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_loHIFb4A7W25F You are welcome to use any clay you'd like, but the larger set is the set we'll be working with in class. Bake at 260-275° under a foil tent for 25-30 minutes. After the timer stops, turn off the oven and leave your creation inside for 20-30 minutes to prevent rapid cool down. When clay cools too fast, it can crack. Parchment paper Sarah wrap Ziplock bags (I recommend snack bags). If you do are not buying the above set, you will also need these: Clay - You may use white clay, but we will not be painting in class. I recommend pre-colored clay. Toothpicks Sculpting tools (suggested but not required) Paring knife or exacto knife. Other optional supplies: Rolling pin (acrylic recommended) Mini cookie cutters or plungers. I like these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BXZ6X4D/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_05EHFbPH5WJQR

Hello, parents!
My name is Christina Broadway, and I am so excited to meet your student! My older kids and young adults usually call me Ms. Broadway or "Ms. B." To the littles I'm typically known as "Ms. Christina."
I graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in English, and I'm working to earn Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Over the past 15 years, I have taught preschool, middle school, and high school children. I have taught online for almost 3 years. To say teaching is my calling is an understatement; I am a teacher at heart and it colors every aspect of my life.
My husband and I live on the Texas coast and love to fish, play board games, and travel.
My love for teaching began with English and Language Arts. Ironically, when I was in grade school, I found English to be very boring and rigid; however, when I got to college, I took some English courses that opened my eyes to how fun language and literature can be! I realized that while literacy and language art skills are important for social, academic, and vocational purposes, they can also be an avenue for creativity and artistic expression. I strive to make my classes both challenging and fun. Most of all, I always try to teach literature and grammar in a way that will be useful and meaningful to my students throughout their lives.
Finally, I am an artist. I am a self-taught baker, sculptor, and painter. (I have even painted some classic works of art ON CAKE!) I believe art is a valuable tool for cultivating self-expression, analytical skills, and emotional health. Children who participate in art and music programs are statistically more likely to perform better in their core subjects. As a result, I love connecting with students through art. I strive to make my art classes accessible for learners of all skill levels and abilities. I am truly amazed by what children are capable of when we give them the guidance and opportunity.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about me. I hope to see you soon!
