If the learners share a Google Doc link with me or use the provided Doc, I will offer some suggestions during the writing time. Additionally, I will give some feedback on each story during the sharing time. This feedback will be given orally, and other learners will be encouraged to comment on the stories, too.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。

Subscriptions renew every Sunday (like all ongoing classes.) Ask about sibling, friend, and loyalty discounts! Coupon codes below! Continue for as long as you want (and drop out when you need to.) Your encouraging messages and reviews help motivate me to continue creating new content! 1️⃣At the beginning of each creative session, each writer will briefly introduce what they are working on. (Make sure you bring your story to class so you can work on it!) 2️⃣From there, the teacher will briefly introduce a story element or writing technique, as follows, using embedded YouTube videos or examples in the classroom: The Week of October 6, 2024 - No Class The Week of October 13, 2024 - Anaphora (Powerful repetition) The Week of October 20, 2024 - Double Purpose Scenes The Week of October 27, 2024 - Plot Episodes (Conflict) The Week of November 3, 2024 - Syntax (Parallelism & harmony) The Week of November 10, 2024 - Characterization (Tone) The Week of November 17, 2024 - Syntax (Varied Sentences) The Week of November 24, 2024 - Characterization (Juxtaposition) The Week of December 1, 2024 - Motif (Developing a theme) The Week of December 8, 2024 - Plot (Falling Action) The Week of December 15, 2024 - Allusion (Giving clues to well-read readers) Characterization (Diction and malapropism) Pacing (Short sentences and fragments) Simile (Solidifying the abstract) Paragraphs (Varied lengths for ultimate impact) Plot (Conclusion/resolution) Theme (Conclusion) Characterization (Show, don't tell) Syntax & Diction (Remove the dead weight) Metonymy Synecdoche Alternate Paths (Branches, expectations, twists, gamebooks, interactive fiction, visual novels, narrative adventures, and spin-offs) 3️⃣Each writer should look for an example of that day's story element or writing technique within their story or find a place to add it. The teacher will invite the writers to share their examples or to consider how the technique could be useful in their stories. The passages shared should be specific to that class's focus, being mindful that others will also want to share. 4️⃣The remaining time will be spent developing our stories. Snacks and beverages are welcome as long as they are not distracting to others. You are also welcome to listen to music if that helps you write, but be considerate of other writers who may need silence to focus their thoughts. During this time, keep chatter to a minimum so each writer can make progress on their project. However, if you have writer's block or need help with something, by all means, reach out in the chat box or by asking the guild for help! Also, if you notice a question in the chat box and others are still engrossed in their writing, bring it to everyone's attention since we are a community of writers helping each other! 5️⃣The creative session will culminate in reflections on how we have developed and strengthened our stories. These reflections may be shared, either in the chat box or out loud, so everyone can celebrate your achievements! Guidelines: ✎𓂃This is an intermediate-level guild, meaning that each writer should already be inspired and ready to craft a story. (Check out some of my other creative writing clubs if you need inspiration!) ✎𓂃Do be purposeful in selecting passages to share in class (since the class time is limited). ✎𓂃Keep the number of classmates in mind when sharing so there is adequate sharing and writing time left! ✎𓂃Gory details and nightmarish frights should not be selected for sharing, although what is suitable may be adjusted based on who is in the class. ✎𓂃Be considerate of other writers who may need silence to focus their thoughts. ✎𓂃During the writing time, keep chatter to a minimum so each writer can make progress with their project. ✎𓂃We may develop a routine for interrupting the quiet time if it is too startling to suddenly have someone speak! ________________________ Due to rising costs and lower enrollment, I have had to increase my prices. 副學士學位 在 英語 從 Canadian College of Educators
Over the past seventeen years, I have been teaching middle school and high school literature and writing, but I also published a collection of short stories and nonfiction articles through Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. (This was while I was teaching in Beijing, after being approached by an editor after an essay reading!)
Currently, I am working on a middle-school novel, several historical-fiction short stories, and weekly poetry (which I share in my Introduction to Poetry #4 class). You may have also had the pleasure of reading some of my short stories in my other creative writing classes.
Additionally, I have released a textbook on project-based learning through Teacher's Discovery, which focuses on breaking down a large creative project into manageable steps, and several self-published books on ancient China with educational activities.
