Skills covered include, listening, speaking, connecting to a story, sharing thoughts and putting them into a spoken and then written sentence. This course combines my "Kindergarten Writing" classes into an ongoing writing experience. Learners will listen to a story, discuss ideas for a written response and then work together to write a sentence or two based on the story. Students will improve their ability to write a simple sentence on a topic of their choice and correctly spell age-appropriate high frequency words. This course does not focus on spelling, but builds confidence in getting ideas on paper.
I am a licensed PreK-Grade 3 teacher's with a M.S. in Elementary Education. Over my 20 years as a teacher, I have had extensive training and experience with Writer's Workshop and coaching young writers. I am passionate about encouraging a love of writing in my students.
Writing and drawing templates will be provided. Learners will need a pencil, and crayons or markers.
