Write Great Paragraphs in Different Styles of Writing: Creative Writing Camp

#academic The more we write, the better we write and possibly the more we enjoy writing. In this class we will first learn about different types of writing and important writing skills using a powerpoint presentation. Then the students will be given a prompt so that they can practice their writing in various genres. I will guide them through the process of writing good paragraphs using a hook to pull the reader into the story. We will also focus on revising and editing as important parts of the writing process. All students will be at different levels of the writing experience. I believe that we should take the child's abilities right where they are and make steps of improvement in a caring and accepting way. More than anything I want to foster the child's confidence and joy in writing. Student will brainstorm together as we develop topic sentences and supporting sentences on the screen. Students should be able to write in sentences. I have 10 lessons taught over 5 weeks for this camp. Native and ESL students welcome.
