In this course, students will work through word problems and be given useful tips in how to solve them. We will work through problems each week, looking for key words that tell us what we are solving and identifying the information necessary to solve them. These tricks include: -Highlighting/underlining key words and crossing out unnecessary information -Understanding what the problem is asking us through key words -Solving using the skills necessary to solve including addition, subtraction,...
Students will learn to decode word problems for key details and necessary information for solving problems. Students will use highlighting and crossing out in this method to assist with helping to identify key words and important information.
I am a 5th grade math teacher, and have taught math review on Outschool since January of 2019. I have worked with various students from various backgrounds to help them master mathematics for over 10 years as a teacher, including private tutoring. I am very familiar with digital learning and how to work with students online. I also integrate review for students to practice to show me how they are progressing. I stay on after the session ends if students need a bit more review.

These will be posted the evening before/morning of class (EST). Please, if possible, have with student for class to follow along during the lesson (but do not work ahead in this class).
