This class follows a book club discussion format. The students engage with the text and each other through a series of guided questions. They review the basic elements of the story including characters, setting, plot, and themes. Then they go deeper to explore the themes of kindness and how each character does or does not demonstrate that and how their behavior affects the other characters. Other topics include belonging, bullying, and adjustment. Students have an opportunity to describe their reactions, feelings, and personal experiences as well.
