초등학교 상위 철자 수업(철자 향상을 위한 느린 속도 수업)

Overview:
This class is perfect for kids in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades to help them get better at spelling. If you have an upper elementary speller that needs a little extra support, this class is perfect for them. 

How I Teach:
I start each class by explaining a new spelling rule. Then, kids get to practice this rule step-by-step. First, they might fill in missing letters in words. If we have time, they’ll spell whole words and even make up sentences with those words. This way, kids get to understand and use their new spelling skills.

What We'll Learn Each Week:
6/2: Learning about syllables with words like "rabbit" and "finish."
6/9: More on syllables with words like "hero" and "menu."
6/16: Using the letter 'x' in words like "box," "expect."
6/23: The letter 'y' sounding like 'i' in words like "cry," "fry," "dry."
6/30: The letter 'y' sounding like 'e' in words like "candy," "thrifty," "bossy."
7/7: Words ending in 'ey' like "valley," "alley," "kidney," "medley."
7/14: Words starting with 'qu' like "quill," "quake," "quench," "squash," "banquet."
7/21: Words with 'ai' like "main," "train," "sprain."
7/28: Words with 'ay' like "stay," "spray," "subway," "driveway."
8/4: Words with 'tch' like "catch," "batch," "twitch," "latch."
8/11: -ind, -ild, old, ost (wildfire, postman, child, behind)
8/18: -ink, -ank, -unk, -onk (sink, think, honk, blank, clunk)
8/25: -ing, -ang, -ong, -ung (sing, thing, song, sung, stong)
9/1: -ar (army, garden, garment, armchair, parkway, partner)
9/8: -ir (squirm, confirm, birthday, skirmish)


Extra Fun Stuff:
Every week, we give kids a list of words to practice at home. Sometimes, we also give them fun games or activities like clip cards to make spelling even more fun. These extras aren’t every week, but they add a nice surprise now and then.

Why This Class Is Great:
Kids will not only get better at spelling, but they’ll also have fun and feel good about learning. The way I teach helps kids understand spelling rules through games and activities that make sense to them. By the end of the class, they’ll be ready to tackle harder words and feel confident in their spelling skills.
