Students will learn phonics skills: letter sounds, digraphs/trigraphs, word families, rhyming, silent e rules, rule breakers and decoding. We will learn Dolch sight words and other high frequency words, fluency, picture clues and other comprehension strategies, basic language arts, computer skills, and social skills.  Capitalization, punctuation, grammar, and spelling are covered in the context of learning to read and responding to stories. 

I love empowering children by teaching them to read!  Reading opens a whole new world to children. I have been teaching reading skills for over 20 years in a variety of home and school settings, including successful virtual reading classes.  I have a collection of lesson plans and rich stories to delight any child while learning to read.  There's nothing like the look of satisfaction on a young reader's face after sounding out a difficult word or reading a whole sentence independently for the very first time.
