수업 소개

In this two session class learners and the teacher together will work to plan, draw, and paint a beautiful botanical from reference. 

In class one we will look at composition, drawing from reference, plotting, and pencil work for painting. We will create color swatches and a value study. 

In class two we will use the swatches and study to complete our paintings using watercolor and inks. We will look at negative space, line weight, watercolor techniques, and light and shadow.

This is NOT a step-by-step class. Learners will be guided through the steps to be successful but will create individual art works.

Learners should come away from this class with the confidence to draw from reference, have a better understanding of simplifying shape, know how to prepare a search for planned painting as well as a value study. Learners will use watercolor techniques they already know or are trying for the first time.

Learners will require: 
Watercolor paints
Waterproof ink black (felt pen or ink with knib would also be fine. Recommend micron pen in 03 and 01 sizes) 
Medium flat synthetic brush 
Small synthetic detail brush 
Two cups of water 
Paper towel
Watercolor paper ( 2-4 sheets that are approximately 5x7 in size) 140lb is recommended 
Pencil 
Eraser

---> Does it look like nothing is on the calendar? Mrs. Ross teaches many private lessons and flex classes that aren't always shown on the calendar. Reach out if you don't see what you are looking for. 

----> Mrs. Ross will be running self paced courses through Summer months.  Mrs. Ross's live classes, lessons, and tutoring for the 2024/25 school year will begin during the second week of September. Spots are filling up so please inquire as early as possible.  Fall schedule will be solidified Mid August for the following fall term.

Sharon is a professional fine artist/illustrator who has been teaching studio curriculum on Outschool for 6 years . Prior to bringing her art and art technique programs to Outschool she taught in schools, community centers, and private studios dating back to 2006. 

Sharon has illustrated FOUR published children’s books, as well as a few that never made it to print. Check out her newest picture book "Refin Builds A Rocket Ship". 

When she isn’t sharing her passion for the arts with learners on Outschool Sharon is creating work in as many different mediums as she can get her hands on.. Sharon's classes are rooted in Reggio philosophies and strives to equip learners with the tools they need to be successful in AND outside the classroom.
